Dreams into Reality

Sakumzi with his SOS Mother

I am Sakumzi Langa, 24 year old lawyer working at the 2nd biggest law firm in Africa, Webber Wentzel. I did my Bachelor of Law degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. During my University times I was blessed to be awarded the Anglo American Bursary that has been so generous as to sponsor my tuition, accommodation, books and a monthly allowance.

My dedication and hard work towards my academics resulted in me making the Deans Merit List in 1st, achieving 4 distinctions and being included in the Golden Keys International Society. In my 3rd year I was selected as the only student at Wits University to receive the Abe Bailey Academic Travel Bursary. This bursary sponsored a fully paid academic tour of Scotland and England, where I had the privilege of visiting places like Oxford and Cambridge University. In my final year I was selected as one of only two students in Africa that were going to complete a 3 months course in America, Miami School of Law.  This course made it possible for me to also tour Switzerland and Dubai. I was also promoted to be senior tutor at the Wits School of Law and was also voted as "The most likely student to be the Chief Justice" by the Law class of 2014.

Currently, I occasionally do motivational talks at conferences, universities and schools to give hope to previously disadvantaged children like myself.  In all my achievements, I have always been grateful to God and to SOS Children’s Villages for the 15 years of love and support I have spent under their warm shelter.
