HSBC Putting The Youth Of SOS Children’s Villages’ Future First
The children have been selected from the eight provinces where SOS Children’s Villages South Africa operates.
The first Life Skills camp will be taking place at SOS Hermann Gmeiner Adult Training Centre in Gauteng from March the 21st to the 25th.
These camps will focus on providing psycho-social support aimed at healing youth’s emotional wounds; equipping youth with life skills to encourage them to make informed decisions around issues such as substance abuse, conflict management, career choices and other skills essential for living lives as independent, responsible members of society.
For over 10 years HSBC has been in a truly global partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, mostly through its Future First programme, supporting our young people with access to education and life-skills.
The Future First programme has also generated employee volunteering opportunities for HSBC staff to become hands-on in career guidance, skills and life experience sharing.
Mr Richard Pichler, Secretary-General of SOS Children's Villages International, expressed his appreciation for HSBC’s willingness to support today’s youth, especially in lines of addressing skills development and youth employment through their Future First programme. Pichler said the issue of youth unemployment and lack of skills were challenging issues that needed to be addressed, especially within the South African context.
SOS Children’s Villages South Africa greatly appreciates the partnership we have with HSBC Future First and we honour their involvement and commitment to the youth we jointly develop.
