The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer leads the design and implementation of a monitoring and evaluation framework in accordance with the organisation’s policies, strategies, and available resources. The M&E Officer is responsible for data collection, analysis, and learning activities to help ensure accountability and efficiency for all programs and projects. The M&E Officer provides technical field support to the Program Unit, working closely with the Head of Program Development and local program teams to assess field conditions, support capacity-building initiatives, and facilitate the collection of quality data. The M&E Officer also supports the Fundraising Development Unit (FDU), and may be assigned to one or more specific grants or projects within a program. Additionally, the M&E Officer works with other colleagues, as need be, on grants writing and set up, follow up of program expenses and indicators, implementation of processes, standard operating procedures and any other tasks assigned by management.
This position leads the Communications Unit and brings together internal and external communications and brand to service SOS South Africa as well as external partners and media. The person is a member of the Senior Management Team, manages the Communications Unit, and provides expert advice and guidance in terms of communications strategy, change communications, external positioning and brand management and development – and operational support especially to the Senior Management Team. Overall, the Head of Communications creates and develops an environment for compelling and inspirational communications that motivate, inform and guide people – from co-workers to donors, from media to governments – and enables a stronger drive from the organisation on key strategic topics. The position reports directly to the National Director.
