Family Strengthening Programmes

Our community-based work focuses on preventing children from losing the care of their families, which means working primarily with child-headed households and households where children are living with terminally ill parents.

Another common phenomenon in our country is to see grandmother-headed households.

This FSP concept is based on four principles:

  1. Meeting the needs of children within their community
  2. Basing actions on the needs and priorities of the community
  3. Building equal partnerships with the community
  4. Promoting self-reliance within the community

Our family strengthening programme expands beyond the Children's Village operations to prevent children from becoming orphaned and abandoned and falling out of the family environment. We currently provide support to families caring for over 4000 orphans and vulnerable children, with the aim of keeping these children in their families and communities of origin.
